[Harp-L] Famous "Harmonica players"

I think this proves my original point. Most people, if they know the 
name John Sebastian, know it because of the Lovin' Spoonful hits, or 
more likely, the Welcome Back Kotter theme, not because of his (or his 
father's) skills on the harmonica.

Just about all of the names mentioned in this thread are known to 
harmonica enthusiasts, not, for the most part, the general public. 
Charlie McCoy may be a legend around Nashville (and a hell of a nice 
guy, too) but he's not a household name to the general public.  As a 
matter of fact, I think you could make an argument that McCoy may be 
better known around Nashville as a multi-instrumentalist and all around 
musician than as strictly a harp player. I'll have to ask a friend of 
mine who's a working harp player in Music City.
