Brendan,
OMG that's so clever.

 I notice in the video that some polish appears to get on the reed. Does this need to be removed as it may change the pitch.

 Also, how long do you left the polish dry? Does any polish flaking occur as the polish gets brittle with age?

It works for chromatics too. However, when breaking the seal, be careful not
to damage the valves underneath - go slowly and more shallow with the shim.
