It appears that there is a magnet within that fat button of the slide.  It is probably repelled by another magnet within the comb.  The pair of magnets oriented N to N or S to S  function as the spring to return the slide to the unpushed position.  Rare-earth magnets can be very strong.

Thus they claim that there is no spring to break etc.

I cannot be sure about this.  It is speculation based on the pictures and claims and a bit of “reverse engineering”
