As far as I know and can tell the Crate VC 508 output tube is an EL84 not a 6L6. The 6L6 is an octal tube, the EL84 is a 9 pin. The 6L6 is higher wattage. Maybe Ron Holmes modded Mr. Hunter's Crate to accept a different tube but I doubt it.
