[Harp-L] Golden Melody

Been having trouble Finding a D harp that I can get to play how I like. I have been playing SP20s mostly, but also Blues Session or Bushman or LO. All with recessed reed plates. So I thought I would try a Golden Melody D.
It played pretty good right out of the box, but there is no way I can deal with the edge of that reed plate. I guess I push the harp too hard down on my lower lip. Any suggestions?
I might have to tackle retuning a C harp all the way up to D.
