The Marine Band Deluxe and the 1847 cost significantly more than the
Special 20, the resulting airtightness and overall better quality
account for the better projection, along with the wider cover plate
openings. The Special 20 is a classic, and a very decent instrument for
the price, however the more expensive instruments will generally be better.
Rather than fiddling with the Special 20 Covers, why not try a Hohner
Rocket? It seems to be a Special 20 with all the bugs fixed.
