To my surprise today I discovered that famed pianist George Winston recorded a CD of solo harmonica and it's quite good.
George Winston was an acolyte of Sam Hinton, the late San Diego diatonic tongue blocking Master and long the linchpin of the SD folks music scene. In fact, the San Diego Folk Festival is named after him.
If you think George is good, y'all should checkout Sam's work. Maybe I should have said Magician rather than Master. Sam was one of the most amazing harmonica players EVER, IMO. Every player interested in tongue blocking should own some of Sam's CDs and study his Youtube lessons. Simply amazing!
