I'm wearing the nickel plating off of a few of my Hohner Deluxes, the Honest Way (playing) and the Silly, Lazy, Way (not bothering to clean them after playing).
I'll try Vern's solution and if it works, I can do the job "as needed", while, if I'm going to chrome or silver plate them, it pays to do a big batch at once, since the price for the small jobs is much the same.
We'll see if the oven-roasted-gun-gunk works. Vern hasn't tried it himself, but apparently has heard from a trust-worthy source that it might work.
If not, I'll just do the chrome plating, which I've had done before with good effect.
