Tulsa's 7th Annual Harmonica Summit will showcase Grammy award winning harmonica virtuoso Sugar Blue, along with harmonica aces RJ Mischo, Billy Gibson, John Long, Deak Harp, Jimmy âJuniorâ Markham and special guest stars. The 2016 Harmonica Summit, presented by the Route 66 Harmonica Club will take place on Saturday, March 19th at the Hyatt Regency Hotel downtown, 100 E. 2nd St., Tulsa, OK. Doors open at 11 am and programs start at noon, continuing well into the evening. Admission is $20 and kids under 14 are free with an adult. 

Daytime Harmonica Workshops & Teach-in - This celebration of the harmonica will include a Kids Harmonica Workshop at noon, with free harmonicas and lessons for the first 50 participants, presented by award-winning Blues Educator David Berntson. At 1pm, the Route 66 Melody Makers will present harmonica lessons for adults, with free harmonicas for the first 50 adult participants. The headlining artists are all nationally recognized harmonica performers and educators who will be available during the afternoon at the harmonica "teach in", where attendees can get one on one instruction, from beginning harmonica playing to intermediate and advanced techniques and theory. Workshops will also include sessions on amplified harmonica techniques with microphone and amplifier demonstrations by Dennis Oellig aka âMr. Microphoneâ, Jim Miller of Mississippi Harp Mics, and Ron Hall of HandsOff Harmonicas. And Tulsa's own open harp surgeon Mike Peace will also be on hand for harmonica customization and tuning. Also featured will be other related harmonica vendors. Opportunities will abound for harmonica players to jam with blues master Pat Moss in the âJamateriaâ during the day. Product displays, vendors and harmonica related giveaways will take place throughout the event. 

Evening Show and Dance - The evening's festivities will begin at 7:00 pm and will be hosted by Tulsa legend Jimmy âJuniorâ Markham and his hand picked band of Tulsa's finest blues players. This big evening show and dance will feature performances by Grammy award-winning harmonica virtuoso Sugar Blue, well known for his harmonica playing on the Rolling Stones hit âMiss Youâ, as well as many other recordings. Other performers at the evening show include international harmonica impresario RJ Mischo, traditional Blues legend John Long, the high energy harmonica of Memphis based Billy Gibson, the Mississippi juke joint magic of Deak Harp, as well as Oklahoma Blues and Jazz Hall of Fame legend Jimmy âJuniorâ Markham, along with other special guests. Each of these world class harmonica players will bring their own magic and style to the Hyatt Tulsa South Ballroom.
