i'm kind of curious as to how your mouthpieces are getting rough. the only
plating problem i've ever seen was that the nickle plating hohner uses
wears away after a few years of steady use. the best solution i've seen
used is to have the mouthpiece chrome plated. chrome is probably a bit
cheaper than silver, but i would guess the difference is minimal. if you
have the mouthpiece plated, do NOT have the slide components plated, as the
plating changes the dimensions of the parts and they won't fit together
anymore.
