The harp-l list default is set to reply to sender.  If you hit reply and 
don't do anything else your reply goes to the sender of the message, not 
harp-l.  To reply to the list or all you need to select that option. 
That has to do with the e-mail program or interface you're using.  It 
has nothing to do with plain text vs multi part mime  or the operating 
sytem you are using, i.e. Mao OS.

Some might consider this default to be a bug or quirk, it's not.  It's a 
feature and one that was chosen purposefully.  Consider the alternative, 
reply to list.  You read a post and decide to blast back a snarky reply 
or private aside to the sender, oops, you've just sent it to the entire 
list.
