Re: [Harp-L] Identify this 64 Chromonica
Robert,
The answer is "no it is not a direct replacement" but it can be done. You
can even have it on the clear Super 64X comb as well.
First, your 1930 reed plates are nailed. They will need to be drilled /
tapped in the locations that correspond with the 16Hcomb.
Second, the slide's spring hole will need to be relocated to accommodate
the new spring location.
Third, the cover plate mounting holes will need to be drilled through the
comb, and reinforcement put in place.
Honestly, there is a lot of intricate work that needs to be done to adapt
the old "wood comb" 280 hardware to the new 16Hcomb.
An alternative would be a custom milled plastic replacement comb.
