Right, and for two reasons:
1) Mircopore tape is initially effective in sealing the gap between comb and reed plates, but over time it collects lots of junk and gunk that you don't want anywhere near your reeds, not to mention your breathing apparatus.
2) modern manufacturing techniques produce harps that are significantly more air-tight than the products made in the 1980s. In other words, micropore tape is much less useful and effective now than it was when harps were badly made.
