Hollywood films, tv shows, commercials, etc. set the pace for the mind set of the "citizens", in a way "telling them" what is good in music these days.
Ever since MTV, images and presentation have become shorter and quicker, as our population struggles with quick term boredom if something doesn't grab them in the first 10 seconds.
It's an evolution.
