Re: [Harp-L] Totally bored with the blues genre
At the chance that I'm repeating myself....check out the Jazz Harp players that have " added "
and I didn't say evolved...from Blues Harp.
Added Jazz / Swing.
No they are not from Chicago or New Orleans or Detroit
Jean-Jacques Milteau. Re'union, Lonely Crowd
Mariano Massolo. Blue Drag, Nightmare
Michel Herblin. Voice, Art Space
And of course our Phil Wiggins / Swing Master
So for me a love of Blues, Rock Harp is still alive .....its fuel for a more complicated journey
that I must take....without talent.
No album planned.
Thanks for throwing gas on our fire Randy

While the blues continues to speak to me with the greatest emotional impact, by the time that interview appeared I had already begun to build a library of music that included blues, jazz, early rock and roll, country, flamenco, and even classical. Today the blues still dominates my music collection of LPs and CDs, but along with Muddy, the Walters, the Kings, the Sonny Boys, T-Bone, Elmore, etc. I also treasure recordings by Charlie Parker, Art Pepper, Sonny Stitt, Dave Brubeck, Gene Ammons, Cannonball, Satchmo, Ahmad Jamal, Mose Allison, and on and on. All this music matters to me. As SBWII once said, Don't Start Me Talkin'. There are a lot of individuals and groups out there today who claim to be playing the blues. It's hard not to get discouraged by the poseurs. But when you hear the real thing, you know it. If we keep listening, we'll find it. And maybe we can even play it.
