The Detune effect on the Digitech RPs (and other multiFX as well) can be used to produce a reasonably convincing accordian sound.
Nothing ever sounds exactly like the real thing except for the real thing, of course. "Reasonably convincing" means that you can produce a sound that's enough like the real thing to evoke a similar emotional response from the audience, and to play the same role in an arrangement.
