How about Row, Row, Row Your Boat, and on the "merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily" part have the student blow bend holes 10, 9, 8 and then 7 before "life is but a dream."

Harvey and Eric,
Thanks for trying.  I see both those tunes as blues based ideas.
Basically, this student does not want to learn to improvise, he just wants to play melodies such as Oh Suzannah.
