how does 19-limit get its name?

â19-limitâ probably refers to a type of JUST intonation.
The relative pitches of notes in a JUST scale are determined by the ratio of two integers. 19-limit refers to JUST intonation with no integer larger than 19. Because any number can be closely approximated by the ratio of large integers, JUST intonation is âlimited" to small integers.
