On the other hand, Jason Ricci swears by it. You really have to try it with your rig or as close as you can get in a music store setting and decide if it's right for you.

IMHO using a BBE can sound out of place in the band mix depending on your mic/amp combination.  I'd rather use a really good mic/amp or ampsim or an RP setup or use a Sansamp and go direct.  I think BBEs mostly make a good boat anchor.
