I thought this was going to be a post of "how to .... "
I play Harmonica with a friend who plays guitar, and would like to be able
to better learn these techniques to play as a background or rhythm when Im
not playing a melody.
I Enjoyed the video (btw) - and that is why the chromatic harmonica exists.
:-)
But Ive also heard this kind of stuff played on a Diatonic too.
I play only Diatonic, standard (richter tuning)
Musicians like current day Joe Filisko, Jason Ricci, or Charlie McCoy, as
well as DeFord Bailey, Sonny Terry, and on and on...Use alot of rhythm
style playing. And they are quite good.
If you have ever tried to play a Fox Chase, you will soon realize that its
not an easy task.
I especially enjoy it when these styles are used in conjunction with
melodic playing.
Im not very good at it, but I try to do a bit of this when I play a Curtis
Mayfield tune called "People Get Ready" - there's a train a comin....
