Re: [Harp-L] iRig
Hi Bob,
I have an iRig that I use with an iPhone 4s. I started using the
AmpliTube free app, but later bought the Fender AmpliTube application
since I wanted to experiment with the Bassman simulation. Here are a few
observations:
- I have an Epiphone Valve Junior, but I do not use that amp with the
iRig - the Epiphone has the Lone Wolf mods, and I do not want to combine
the effects from the AmpliTube application with the Epiphone. So I use a
very clean all transistor 50 watt amp, or better yet, I play through the
house PA system.
- You better have a charger - when the AmpliTube application is running.
It sucks battery power.
- There are all sorts of effects available on the AmpliTube app. The
Fender version has a lot of the Fender guitar effects pedals. All I use is
the Bassman with some echo, and that seems to work just fine.
- The audio level from the iPhone can be a little low to drive some PA
systems
- It sounds great to play through this rig into headphones - increases
domestic tranquility :-)
- As far as affecting tone, I know there are some hard-core purists on
this list, so all I can say is that the tone sounds fine to me in bypass,
and it sounds ripped up when the Bassman is on. I¹m happy, but YMMV.
Hope that helps,
Brad
