I've always felt that if SPAH conventions ever got into deep financial
trouble; that the solution might be a joint harmonica/accordion
convention. Both seem to be related, reed and sound-wise. It would
certainly bring a whole new influx of people, money, ideas, and music into
the mix. Personally, I'd love to walk around a hotel listening to
harmonica and squeeze box virtuosos. I'm sure the Hohner company would
love it too, since they manufacture both instruments. I just noticed this
morning that there appears to be an instrument that kind of bridges the gap
between the harmonica and accordion. I must have led a sheltered life,
I've never seen the thing before. I'm not even sure why it would be
considered an accordion or "accordina" when it resembles a melodica and
might actually be a chromatic harmonica in disguise:

I like this clip, too, but to skip the chatter you want to start at 1:30
in. And Mr. Labro proves to be a very capable jazz player, judging by his
solo at the 4:00 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCgaI4Ba5Bs. Pretty
impressive stuff.
