Re: [Harp-L] re: History of Harmonica Tunings

Well, as you were talking yesterday about the 2 kinds of people, I established that I had started on chromatic first. So from about 12 1/2 till 18 1/2 I was used to the one tuning. THEN I quit for about 30 years. And when I came back, I was used to the solo tuning and every time I tried something else, I had a terrible time. So, as I was saying the other day about being lazier than other players, I simply kept doing solo tuning. It had worked for me before, and I didn't want to spend the time re-learning.

There are a multitude of reasons why people do the things with harmonica the way they do. Some involve time, some involve money, some involve position. Some day I may write something about it. But I DO get your point. And while I am a *severe* masochist, harmonica is one area where I don't seem to like pain.
