Re: [Harp-L] Two draw on a Seydel Orchestra S not responding right
I experienced the same problem on my two months old Orchestra-S in LC.
Having read John CuchtaÂs message I approached Seydel direkt this morning
and just got below quoted answer. It says: they are aware of the problem,
the solution is valving hole 2, meantimely all new Orchestra-S are shipped
with this valve. They offer to send me such a valve and that I fix it myself
with "Superglue" (a Loctite product) or that I send them the harmonica and
they do this modification.
This proposal confirms JohnÂs remark "it works fine when blocking the two
blow".
I am wondering why just only on draw 2 and not also on draw 1 and draw 3.
Is it an inherent problem of the reed weight to oscillating frequency?
Why does 2 draw not have the metalloc timber like 1 and 3 and the others? Why
does it sound dead, muffled, hollow, monoton?
I am sure Seydel will not allow this problem to rest and soon have a better
solution than valving.

leichter anspricht. Mittlerweile werden alle neuen ORCHESTRA S so
ausgeliefert.

Subject: [Harp-L] Two draw on a Seydel Orchestra S not responding right
I'm rather new to the repair stuff and have been scratching my head about
this issue.
It's not buzzing, I've played with the gapping but what seems to be the
solution is when I have my finger sealing the two blow reed, which plays
fine itself, the two draw works, which tells me (I think) it's a gapping
issue with the two blow reed? I've been tinkering with the harp the past
couple days on and off thinking I would just figure it out but I'd rather
not end up destroying a harp that is less than a month old.
Summary: Two draw doesn't sound like it's tight but no burs or gunk are in
there and it works fine when blocking the two blow... help please!
Cheers
