Some people have a mental block. My dad, any intelligent guy who
started college when he was 15, never got the simplest mechanical
relationships. Things like the lever and the inclined plane were
impenetrable mysteries to him. One of my treasured childhood memories
was the time my mom, who was mechanically inclined and a good teacher,
tried to explain to him how a water faucet worked.
