True. I think I used the words "I believe".

Maybe not on your watch, but I recall complaints. Why even the last few jazz jams have been (what 'I' would call) too loud. Loudness doesn't necessarily equate to good. lol. In fact, every time Ricci has appeared here in Florida, he has been loud..but not TOO loud. I don't blame anything but the acoustics. As you well know, sound is hard to get at these hotels.
And moving to venues with a lot of tables, nooks and crannies, passageways to ladies and mens rooms, room dividers, etc. can soften the sound.

I attended 2002. Don't remember. I played 2002. It was held in Columbus.

All you have said is basically true. Which is exactly WHY...I say that the blow off is a unique experience. And for those whom have been to many, as I have, maybe another one would be no bigga deal. But for someone looking for the whole package, I think it is a worthwhile event. 

And thanks for agreeing with me. I don't have that many chances to say: "Wow, see, I was right".
