While bicycle commuting from Brooklyn to my day job at the Whitney Museum
of American Art I often listen to audio-books and have recently started THE
GRAPES OF WRATH by John Steinbeck. Its amazing, and as a musician whose
primary wellspring of inspiration comes from rural social and dance music
recorded between 1900 and 1940 this book hits the spot on so many levels. A
nice bonus is the harmonica featured between chapters - it is beautifully
rendered by a fine player . . . the question is, by whom?
