Ken,

Thank you for finding and posting this. Many people know Studs as an 
interviewer and author, but fewer know of his background in music and 
his friendship with many musicians. His first book, Giants of Jazz, was 
about musicians.

Even at his lowest, after being blacklisted in the 50s, he still made 
his meager apartment available to countless musicians visiting Chicago. 
These tracks are fine examples both of his friendships with musicians 
and his great interview style.

I am told that one of his nephews is an avid player and occasional 
contributor to this list. ;-)
