Rhino has just reissued three of the Cap's best recordings-Lick My Decal's
Off, Baby-The Spotlight Kid-and Clear Spot. Anyone who wants to hear some
great, original harp playing, set within the framework of a monster band
that bridges rock, blues, jazz and something uniquely Beefheart-ian, should
check this stuff out. It sounds as genre shaking today as it did 40+ years
ago. The guy could blow, channel Howlin' Wolf, make you laugh, rock you
HARD, take you out on the fringe, and get you to shake your ass, sometimes
all at once. Best reissue of the year, hands down.
