Since the harmonicas account for a large portion of the overall price, and since the main value-add is the harness, not the harps, it seems like selling the harness only (provided it can be installed by the user) should work to reduce the price without reducing the value to either buyer or seller.

If I could buy an instrument that would make me an instant virtuoso for less than $1000, I certainly would.  Hell, I'd buy it for my kids too.  But I doubt that Brendan's instruments will make anyone a virtuoso all by themselves, unless the buyer chooses the "deal with the devil" option (which worked out okay for Robert Johnson, bu not for long).
