[Harp-L] FB v harp-l current config TOP{IC CLOSED
Actually it was closed several days ago. Again if you want to have a
discussion regarding what the various merits of the myriad methods of
delivering and accessing a harmonica discussion group might be there's a
place for that discussion. That place is a google group called
harp-l-meta=discussions, the direct url is here,
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/harp-l-meta-discussions
You can read without joining but to post you'll need to subscribe. That
groups is not topic limited but polite discourse is the watchword.
Just to set the record straight harp-l is not considering moving to
Facebook or any other corporate or advertising driven platform. It
wouldn't be harp-l then would it?
My apologies for having let this go on as long as it did, I knew from the
first post this wasn't an on topic discussion and it was completely meta
and by the way marking something OT does not make it ok. If it doesn't
meet the wide criteria of all things harmonica then it isn't a topic for
harp-l. The other guideline is meta, which is talk about the talk or in
this case the meta of the harp-l list. No meta on harp-l. That one
simple rule has completely changed my experience as listowner. It
removes the element of judgement which was not a business I was enjoying
being in plus it led to arguments and people pleading their cases. Not a
life I want to live.
Finally for anyone curious about the larger topic of meta discussions,
more meta, here's a really good explanation of what it is and why it's
destructive to topical e-mail lists and their communities.
