That's because a 5 pointed star has 'legs' with 36 degree departure angles. A Mont Blanc 'cap' is truncated. The 'legs' are at 45 degrees. Btw, the stars in your photo look like 6 pointed ones to me..or did I miss something somewhere along the way? :)
