Re: [Harp-L] deburring slide
I’m sure that there are lots of good ways to do it, but here is what works well for me:
I hand scrub the slide and the parts that it touches with crocus cloth. This is a fine abrasive cloth with a reddish color. I always back up the flexible parts against a flat surface to avoid bending. The softness of my fingers pushes the cloth into the openings and produces a microscopic rounding of the sharp edges.
Then I apply a light coat of carnauba (Johnson’s in the yellow can) paste floor wax and polish it hard. I assume that wax acts as a lubricant and inhibits stuff from sticking to the metal.
I just worked over my Super 64X this way and it came out with that “buttery smooth” professional feel that Joe Leone recommends.
