I don’t play another instrument. I do get into this situation from time to time. I think of it as being “Stage Candy”, and it’s part of the performance: I listen actively, glance at various members of the band, move to the beat (no flailing), and I look out into the audience and smile to show that I’m part of the band even though I’m not making sound at the moment, and to show them a good time.
