RE: [Harp-L] Blue Monk

Hello,

I've always played this tune with the changes present in the Real Book.
The presence of the F7 chord once in a while doesn't change much.
The only difference with a pure I IV V blues is the presence of the Edim,
which is a very nice chord, and brings a specific color (especially with the
lick present in the theme at this moment).
I guess the vast majority of the bands will play that chord at that moment
(or let's say I hope so :-)).
If you are not used to it, you can play a Edim arpeggio here : E G Bb Db
(you can also try a C dim arpeggio : C Eb F# A, or mix all those notes
together).

Best regards,

Here's a question for those of you that have played Blue Monk at gigs.

The changes as written in The Real Book (vol 1) aren't strictly a I-IV-V
blues. Do the rhythm sections you have played with stick close to The Real
Book changes or do they instead devolve into a strictly I-IV-V blues after
playing the head?
