For minor sealing, I have used Elmer's or other water bases glues. Ross carpenter's glue is another choice. What you do is lay a tiny (I repeat..tiny) bead along the seam and with a wet finger rub it in gently (I repeat..gently), and evenly. Much the same as you would do when caulking a window glass or rain gutter. In about 45 min the glue will set enough to use the harp. And the lips won't reach it, so it will hold up. Some times I have had to lay a piece of thread in the seam to provide a gap fill/lock.ÂÂ 

Slightly more major work? I use Geo seal or other silicone based caulking. Repeat..as sparingly as possible. Stubborn work? May require a gasket. Made from construction or blotter paper. Be careful on chromatics, as some solvents in glues can wrinkle wind savers. Flavoring in some lip balms and sun tan lotions used on lips (like water mellon, strawberry etc.) can also wrinkle wind savers. . I use Burt's bees..it has no solvents. 

Me? I would test the materials first.
