[Harp-L] RE: Suzuki and Best Deals Eva

[Dan,

A MAJOR word of warning regarding "Best Deals Eva" on Amazon:

Please note that "Best Deals Eva" is NOT an authorized Suzuki dealer. Any
Suzuki instruments sold through "Best Deals Eva" DO NOT include a warranty
of any kind. We cannot guarantee that the instruments are new or safe to
play, and our factory and distributorship assume no responsibility for the
condition of these instruments.

Best Deals Eva is the online arm of a company called Marc's Closeout Stores
in Ohio.

Their business model involves buying out junk from companies that are moving
or going out of business. The Suzuki harmonicas they have in stock were
bought up when we moved to a new facility in 2011. This means that the
instruments you buy though Best Deals Eva are most likely unclaimed repairs,
used or defective instruments, or are cobbled together from various spare
parts.

Again, Suzuki USA DOES NOT honor any warranty on any instruments sold
through this retailer, and strongly discourages all musicians from buying
harmonicas through this dealer. Requests for warranty service and parts will
be denied.

Please avoid suggesting online that other musicians buy their instruments
form this company, as this just confuses people, and seriously undermines
the ability of Suzuki Music USA and their authorized dealers to provide
quality instruments at an affordable price.

Thank You,

-Daron Stinton

Well, I guess I'll find out when they get here what kind of quality they
are. I'm fine with buying NOS suzukis from a closeout. I doubt that they
are cobbled together or used. Probably just NOS. If they are junk, well, I
bought it through Amazon, and will have my money refunded if the product is
not as advertised. As for the warranty, I've never needed a Suzuki
warranty, so that will be fine if these don't come with one.

I don't want to sound hostile or give offense, but I don't think there's
any way to say this honestly without doing so. I don't think its your place
to tell me or anyone else that we shouldn't buy secondhand or NOS
instruments. Frankly I think your request infringes on the rights of the
original dealer to liquidate his stock when his business went belly up -
eventually the stock needs to get into the hands of a consumer. I've got no
problem with helping a guy out by buying his merchandise when his business
fails; he needs to recoup his losses as much as he can.

If these products are from SUZUKI's move back in 2011 as you say, well
then the whole thing is SUZUKI's fault, and certainly not my fault. If
SUZUKI sold all their old stuff to Marc's Closeout Stores, but then
disagrees with Marc's business model, and discourages consumers from
purchasing from Marc's stores.... SUZUKI has been hypocritical, and never
should have sold their products to Marc's - since they know that the
product eventually has to get in the hands of a consumer!!!! Yours is a
severely flawed line of reasoning. If it is as you say, then SUZUKI should
have destroyed these flawed and unwarrantied products rather than knowingly
use Marc's Closeouts as a middle man to place these flawed and unwarrantied
instruments in the marketplace. That would be SUZUKI's fault, not mine, and
SUZUKI would be the one with the unethical business model!

I'm perfectly within my rights to purchase used or NOS instruments, and
perfectly within my rights to alert other musicians to what I regard as a
good deal.

To end on a positive note: Thank you, though, for alerting me that this is
not an authorized dealer; I hadn't considered that, though I don't think it
will be an issue. Suzuki products are typically very well manufactured, and
I don't actually need the warranty if I have a well made product. I gladly
play and enjoy Suzuki products, and plan to continue doing so.
