If you ever play with musicians who tune down a half step (usually for
vocals or for more slack strings for easier bending) then you will play in
F# a lot. When tuned down a half step songs usually in G with G guitar
chord patterns will actually be in F#. Instead of a C harp played in 2nd
in G, you need to use a B harp in 2nd for F#. B harps are in a nice
range.
If a song is played in D normally, tuned down it would be in Db/C# and you
would need an F# harp played in 2nd. I like the low F# for this as it
sounds closer to the regular G you would use for the song if they had not
tuned down. The regular F# is pretty high in pitch, though it can play
fast and is good on fast songs.
Etc.
