Re: [Harp-L] Help! How should I teach left handed players to hold their harmonica?

Hello Ben,

I look at the harp like I would look at a piano... low keys on the left, going to the higher keys on the right.

That said, I would always recommend holding the harp with the left hand, due to the better tone that resonates from a cupped or partially cupped hand with the lower notes, and the right hand to use for more effects, wahs, and more complete cupping.

Plus a lefty should feel more natural holding a mic with this left hand as well as the harp.

Subject: [Harp-L] Help! How should I teach left handed players to hold their harmonica?

I am teaching a left handed harmonica player, but being right handed I just don't know the best way for them to hold the darn thing.

Does anyone have any advice on how I should teach this?

Many thanks
