I have been experimenting with resistance soldering for attaching reeds. It is a lot like spot-welding but uses solder at lower temperatures. I plan to use it whenever I need to replace a reed in my own harmonicas. It makes possible using any length of reed in any longer slot. This might be of interest to you alternate-tuning enthusiasts.
The information about it is 3 pages long and includes pictures. If you would like to receive a PDF document describing the pros & cons, send me an email. The information is also posted on another harmonica forum which allows file attachments and pictures.
