Now that the extended copyright of the 1893-based Happy Birthday song is
being challenged in a federal court in New York, could Mickey Mouse be
next?
......
But HB was really based on a song by the sisters Patty and Mildred Hill
in 1893 called Good Morning to All. Somehow the public added Happy
Birthday to the melody.
I hear ya, Phil. I almost sent a recorded "Happy Birthday" to Buzz Krantz
this week, but pulled up short to avoid a lawsuit. Sorry, Buzzy!
OK, how about ... "M I C ... K E Y ..." Oops, nevermind. Gotta take
this call from Warner/Chappell.
Many happy returns of the years, Buzz!!! Cheers, BG
