I am following this thread with interest, although sending a harmonica to
the other side of the Atlantic for TLC is not really an option for me.
I only once (well I used him twice) was able to use the services of a
customiser. He was a very decent Scotsman resident in England and he was at
the time approved by Hohner as a repair/ service specialist.
I received back from him two Hohner 270 chromatics which were noticeably -
even to an inexpert like me far better than new. Unfortunately he has since
died so I was unable to use his services again.
I am not surprised to learn from the correspondence that Harmonica
Customisers like most Harmonica Players cannot survive without a "day job"
