I have heard from some of the feedback looping crowd that use 2 of the dd-20s and are very happy with them. No sync, no midi. 

One advantage for feedback control over 100% is reintroducing a loop with lots of noise artifacts and there can be effects added to just that loop.

If I didn't have a midi drummer synced, I would consider the sl-20 slicer for the rythemic background.
