"Rain down tears" is a blues, originally recorded by Hank Ballard (at least AFAIK), that seem to cry out for a harmonica like a baby crying for its mamma; and Butterfield supplied this beautifully on the two Levon Helm RCO All Stars records. (And, as an aside, that second one, the live record from -77, is something of a crash course in how to integrate harmonica in a band: he´s present all the time but very careful in his application of fills etc, never overbearing.)
For some reason I have trouble working out the chords to the song. I´m embarassing myself here, I know (I´m primarily a melody guy -- even when I play guitar) but I can´t piece it together convincingly.
Have searched the net but found nothing.
Anybody on board here who´s done the job and would be willing to share the results?
Cheers,
Martin
PS Only YT link I could find is from a later, inferior, version w/ Helm:
