Since apparently quite a number of listmembers will watch the PFOS premiere it would be interesting, for us out in the sticks (Sweden in my case) to read some unprejudiced wievs on it. By that I mean not the kind of "Hey, it´s-great-´cause it´s-about-harmonica!"-cheering outbursts that´s not infrequent in various guises here on the list (I already know it´s about harmonica -- but, perhaps sadly, no inherent greatness follows from that) but hopefully something a bit more nuanced.
It´s hard to make a documentary about the harmonica that somehow catches the eye of a chunk of the general public, and not just repeats other harmonica documentaries -- I fully appreciate that. And a harmonica documentary directed towards the "harmonica community" (whatever that is) with hard-angled specialisation would be a really perilous undertaking in financial terms: think 535 viewers ...
Still, for us outside the relevant urban parts of the US the chance of catching the film will (at best!) be via DVD or some form of dowload, and when pondering that it would be nice to have some references.
I still remember vividly some parts of a harmonica documentary that I saw on Swedish TV in the mid 70´s (I´ve never managed to find out it´s name) and that confirmed my budding interest in this little thing in a very positive way. But I was so much younger then.
/Martin
