Re: [Harp-L] half-valving
Get an electronic keyboard (as low as $50) to match your bends.Play the bent note on the keyboard and match it on the harp. Or a chromatic tuner ($20). Or an app for your iphone or ipad or ipod. Making use of half-valved bends takes finesse not force. The lighter the attack, the more likely the bend will be in tune. It is not necessary to test the strength of bonding of the glue-- in other words, if you're blowing out the valves, you're using to much air.
hope this helps

Subject: [Harp-L] half-valving
you might check out PT Gazelle's online presence....
His half-valving process makes them play in tune chromatically....
He sent me enough of his valve material to half valve a couple sets of
diatonics....
but my valving isn't as in tune as his is....I think something untoward must
have happened as they traveled to my home.
must be the glue I used...
