I found a stethoscope we bought for the kids years ago, and was listening to my heartbeat (having a few issues, of late, as the years fly by), and thought about how it's like a little personal amplifier, and not only that, it can be cupped easily. Perhaps another tool for personal practice? 

Just be cautious. It might blow out your eardrums if you play too hard. Take it easy, all you wannabe doctors out there. Good practice for playing very quietly, preserving your reeds. Adds another dimension to your listening ability.
