There isn't enough room inside the standard 545 barrel for a volume pot as it sits immediately over the transformer. It also takes some practice to get that transformer out of the barrel without damaging it- different vintage 545's require different techniques. 

I charge $139 to Ultimatize your 545. Not only does it add the volume control, it makes it noticeably shorter and lighter which greatly improves handling comfort.
