My advice is don't!

Once I lost a favourite screwdriver to security which I had inadvertently
left in my briefcase.

Airport security guys are inflexible, bureaucratic and usually devoid of any
sense of humour.

Nowadays before I fly I try to go over my hand baggage to make sure that I
have not any precious tools on board.
