Hi Paul,
The 580sa is indeed a good mic.  It does, however, have a couple draw
backs... 1st, its enormous size and weight, 2nd the attached cable.

It is a good mic with a frequency response on par with the SM-58.  That
being said, the 580sa is less popular due to the size and weight
differences.
